Den Lille Havfrue (The Little Mermaid)

I am horrified by how long it has been since I last posted. No good excuses. Anyways this is an illustration of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid. This is where she has decided to cast herself into the sea rather than kill her beloved prince, and is now waiting for her body to become seafoam. I enjoyed reading the original story again, there's been a couple of different movies made that didn't stick to the plot at all, and it's actually a charming tale with a happy ending! (Not Disney happy but still happy)

This is based on a dream I had. It's in watercolour and pencil crayon

Someone asked me to sketch this, I don't know where it's going but if he likes it I may have a little more freelance work.
PS I'm going to New York March 1st, just for a few days. Any unusual places I should go? This is my second time going so I've seen all the touristy jazz.

No, it did not take me a month to do this, I've just been lazy about posting. My apologies to my loyal fans, both of you. Enjoy the side boobs. Sooo, yeah. This was done in Photoshop, cuz I'm too broke to buy decent art supplies, plus its easier. It looks kind of like pastels I think. Looks so nice and cold there, doesn't it? I miss being cold. I'd like to go to the library today but I just had a shower and don't want to get all sweaty. It's still a hundred effing degrees here!

Some of you may recognize this from my life drawing portfolio. It's the model that Moh found on the beach with her boyfriend or brother. (how does he get away with that?) Anyways, thought she'd make a good mermaid. I don't think I have the shoulder blades right, should probably brush up on my anatomy. Er, not MY anatomy, just anatomy in general. Mine's plenty brushed upon.
